Final Week!

Over the past few years Vintage Faith Church has been rooted by God in Cicero, New York. It started with a building that God had supplied and is unfolding into a body of believers eager to love & serve the community within and outside of it’s walls, to the glory of God. As we grow in our mission to help people far from God become totally devoted followers of Jesus, we are going to pray and seek Him toward that end. Will you join us?

“We continually ask God to fill us with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that we may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that we may have great endurance and patience; giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:9-14

This is as simple as a prayer.

Each day we will ask that you pray one specific prayer. The prayers will be listed on handouts each Sunday, posted on our website www.vintagefaithcicero.com and emailed to you through this church newsletter each week. Small groups are encouraged to bring prayers and scriptures up for discussion each week; while also continuing in prayer for both #vfc40dop & the personal prayers of the group.

We look forward to this season and anticipate that God will move in and through our sacrifice of prayer & praise!

Here are the Prayers for this Week!

Day 1, February 20:

Let’s pray for God to hear our prayers over these 40 days. Praise and thank God today for the work of Christ on the cross which makes it possible for us to go directly to God with our prayers.

“This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.”
Ephesians 3:11-12

Day 2, February 21:

Let’s pray for those seeking after God and people who have recently trusted in Jesus as savior. We pray for God’s spirit to pour into their hearts and help them walk in obedience to God’s word.

“Therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7

Day 3, February 22:

Let’s pray for the Archery program we offer to the community. We ask for many kids (30) to join us from the area and to have gospel impact on them and their families.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19

Day 4, February 23:

Let’s pray about two services on Sunday, if this is what God wants then we need His help to know when to start, how to do this and the volunteers to carry it out.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord to send out laborers” Matthew 9:37

Day 5, February 24:

Day 6, February 25:

Pray for humility in the church.

Day 7, February 26:

Let’s pray for Lead Pastor Ken Salisbury, Lisa and family: Sarah, Andrew & Ayrton / Caryn, Tom, Jones, Madden & baby Benson / Nate / Daniel

“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” Hebrews 13:17

Day 8, February 27:

Let’s pray for Executive Pastor Anthony Valentine, Amy and family: Autumn, Ella, Anthony & Mareyn

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” Ephesians 4:11-12

Day 9, February 28:

Let’s pray for Steve Brown who leads us in worship, and for his team; that the Holy Spirit lead their ministry to connect the church to Him in worship and praise of our great God.

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. John 4:23

Day 10, March 1:

Let’s pray for our Children’s Ministry Director Erica Newman, and for ministry teachers. We ask God to bless their work and make it fruitful. We ask God to raise up new teachers to love the kids of Vintage Faith Church and lead them to Jesus.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children.” Deuteronomy 6:5-6

Day 11, March 2:

Let’s praise God for the servant hearted leaders that have stepped into necessary roles here at VFC! We pray that God strengthen their faith, give them encouragement, and continue to develop them for the work of ministry. We ask God for more people to serve in different ways as the church grows and we reach the community with the love of Christ.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” 1 Peter 4:10

Day 12, March 3:

Let’s praise God for His continued faithfulness in providing for the existing ministries here at VFC. Ask him for more vision and resource to grow in these current ministries to reach the community and beyond.

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Day 13, March 4:

Let’s ask Jesus to strengthen us with his power & by his Spirit to know and do his will. For him to show us his plans and his purposes for our church so that he is glorified in our families, in our church, in our communities and beyond.

“…be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might” Colossians 1: 9-11

Day 14, March 5:

Let’s pray for God’s clear leading in how to adapt to the growth we’ve experienced and for new people, that they continue on attending and get plugged into the community here at VFC

“…hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another…” Hebrews 10: 23-25

Day 15, March 6:

Pray for each and every person who attends VFC as their church, that the love of Christ pour into their hearts. Pray as the Lord leads for specific people.

Day 16, March 7:

Let’s take today’s prayer time and give God praise for who he is!

“For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised” Psalm 96:4

Day 17, March 8:

Let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to empower the believers at VFC to step into roles and spaces that serve the church and the ministries that exist for the good of the community.

“…there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good…All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.” 1 Corinthians 12:6,7,11

Day 18, March 9:

Let’s pray for the church family to uplift and encourage one another to walk in the truth & follow after Jesus.

“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:5-9

Day 19, March 10:

Let’s ask God to help us identify strongholds that hold us back from fully knowing the love God has for us, and the abundant life He desires to give us through Jesus.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.  We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ”
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Day 27, March 18:

Pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirt in the ministry of the word. Let’s ask God to use our pastors and teachers to demonstrate His power through the living and active word of God preached.

“and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.” 1Corinthians 2:4-5

Day 28, March 19:

Let’s pray for the leadership team, that the Holy Spirit work among them to carry out the plan for two services. Ask that God’s spirit fill you with the same faith to obey God in what He is calling you to.

“Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.” Hebrews 13:7

Day 29, March 20:

Let’s pray for community group leaders today. We pray they thirst  for God’s word and that His word live in them to teach others.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16

Day 30, March 21:

Let’s pray for the elders of Vintage Faith Church: Randy Ryan, Pastor Anthony, and Pastor Ken. Let’s ask God to provide more elders for training.

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”  Acts 20:28

Day 31, March 22:

Let’s pray for those we know and love, who are far from God. We thank you Jesus that you are drawing them to yourself. We ask you to give them grace to know you and experience your great love for them. We pray you soften their heart Lord and allow us as ministers of your gospel to share with them about you. Choose someone specific to pray for.

Day 32, March 23:

Let’s pray for the youth group at Vintage Faith Church. We ask for God’s leading in this and pray for him to provide leaders, helpers and teachers to encourage and equip this next generation.

“How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.”  Daniel 4:3

Day 33, March 24:

Let’s pray for the archery ministry, asking the Lord to raise up workers for this ministry. We pray this ministry has great impact in the community and beyond. We praise you that you will guide and direct us in this work and provide everything we need.

“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”  Isaiah 58:11

This is the final week!
As we close out this season of prayer, we just want to thank you for joining with us in prayer! With one voice we have gone to the Father in need, in thanks, in praise and in confession and this pleases the Father and brings glory to our Lord. In closing, this our prayer for you…
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6

Now in this final week, we thought we might stir it up! We’ve included scriptures for each day of this holy week for reflection and ask you to continue to pray for the church as you feel led. We’re also praying that the Lord prompt you to invite someone to join us for our Easter service next Sunday. We all know someone who needs to hear about the hope we have in Jesus! Cut out and use the invitation below to invite someone you know to our Sunday worship gathering.

Day 34, March 25:

Today we’re asking you to prayerfully consider fasting this week. Spend some time with God reflecting on the right fast for you. Traditionally, the Christian fast would be abstaining from eating for 24 hours. For example, we would not eat between dinner Tuesday and dinner Wednesday. Or maybe you prefer fasting all meals for one day. Instead of eating, we would devote some of the time given to those meals to meditation on God’s Word and to prayer for spiritual awakening and for the advancement of Christ’s kingdom around the world.

Maybe food won’t work for you because of certain health concerns or life obligations, you can consider other forms of fasting. If your heart is willing, he will lead you. God knows your heart and where you put your time, energy and devotion. Maybe it’s a fast from social media that has too much reign in your life. Perhaps you’d like to give up the time devoted to watching a TV program and devote it to reading His word & prayer? Whatever you choose is between you and the Lord.

From an article on the Desiring God website an explanation: Fasting is an intensification of prayer. It’s a physical explanation point at the end of the sentence, “We hunger for you to come in power.” It’s a cry with your body, “I really mean it, Lord! This much, I hunger for you.”

You might think, well Jesus is with me by the Holy Spirit that He has given to me. And yes, as believers Jesus is present with us by his Spirit. But Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We [would] prefer to be absent from the body and at home with the Lord.” In other words, in this age there is an ache and a longing—a homesickness—inside every Christian that Jesus is not here as fully and intimately and as powerfully and as gloriously as we want him to be. And that is why we fast.

Much of this content is from the following article:

“And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.”
Matthew 9:15

Day 35, March 26:

And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Ezekiel 11:19-20 (500 BC)

Day 36, March 27:

(Jesus said) She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial.
Mark 14, Matthew 26

Day 37, March 28:

Therefore he (Jesus) is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
Hebrews 9:15

Day 38, March 29:

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
John 13

Day 39, March 30:

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering…But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53 (700BC)

Day 40, March 31:

He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.
Philippians 2
